Textiles Workshop/Sewing Machine Review
Overall, I found it fun and exciting to participate in the textiles workshop because I have never independently used a sewing machine before. In the past I was sceptical about using them because I was worried about injuring myself easily, however this workshop made me realise this won't happen as long as I'm careful. Before applying the sewing machine I used drawing inks to paint onto the fabrics, experimenting with different colours and how they merge together. To begin with, I found the procedure using a sewing machine and its settings confusing because there were quite a few steps. Despite this, my tutor was useful in helping me understand each step and why they had to be done. I made a couple of mistakes whilst using the sewing machine e.g. the bobbin thread did not go through the fabric with the needle, but I soon realised mistakes like this occurred because steps were missed, e.g. I did not put the thread through the bobbin casing.
